Oakland Parklet (with Recess Design Collective)

The design of the Actual Cafe Parklet in Oakland CA occurred over a series of iterations in collaboration with the client, who wanted to expand the impact of his cafe onto the public space and contribute to the activation of the area. Given the client´s intent to integrate the community into the building processes, the design proposes re-claimed wood modules, and pre- fabricated frames for the creation of three outdoor rooms surrounded by planters at varying heights. The proposal was accepted by the City of Oakland as part of its Pilot Parklet program.
